Centennial Celebration Collection 1920-2020 - anlässlich des 100 Geburtstages von Charlie Parker

Norman Granz nahm Charlie Parker in verschiedenen Kontexten auf, unter anderem stellte er Birds Saxophon vor eine lateinamerikanische Rhythmusgruppe. Einige Sessions, von denen acht Melodien auf der 10-Zoll-LP South of the Border (Mercury MGC-513) landeten, entstanden in kleinen Formationen mit erfahrenen Jazzmusikern, ergänzt durch José Mangual (Bongos) und Luis Miranda (Congas). Als Bonus sechs Tracks, die auf der Original LP nicht enthalten waren.
