We don’t know where others acquire their cables. For our part, we manufacture our speaker cables here in Germany. And most of our home hi-fi and video cables in the Referenz and Exzellenz quality classes are manufactured by in-house production plants at Company headquarter in Ballrechten-Dottingen. Look for the ‘‘Made in Germany’’-sticker on our packaging.
The designation was originally introduced in the United Kingdom in the Merchandise Marks Act at the end of the 19th century in order to ensure that foreign products were clearly labelled as such. Foreign producers had previously been in the habit of fraudulently attaching the brand names of renowned British manufacturers to inferior goods and importing them into the United Kingdom.
“Made in Germany” was from the outset to be understood as a warning. But, in the course of just a few years, both manufacturing processes and the quality of the products underwent continuous improvements. Views changed. After the Second World War, “Made in Germany” was synonymous with the economic miracle of the 1960s. Nowadays, Germany, with its good infrastructure and its high technical, social and political standards, is the byword for seminal innovations and technological progress. Last but not least, values such as precision, reliability and hard work have transformed “Made in Germany” into a recognised seal of quality.
Just like all speaker and audio cables from the Referenz series, the LS-2404 AIR is entirely made in Germany. The clips are meticulously assembled by hand at the on-site factory and then threaded into the Cross Link Super Speed waveguide. The resulting Air Helix then receives a PE network jacket and rhodium-plated plugs before the finished cable is subject to thorough final inspection.

Ultimately there are no binding statutory regulations on the use of the designation “Made in Germany”. However, the manufacturing process is crucial. That is to say, either essential parts or specific product properties must have been produced in Germany or the product must have been finished in the country. The use of the seal is illegal for goods which have been completely produced abroad.
